2015 is expected to be a knockout year for Stellenbosch with many events on the go throughout the year, varying from harvest and wine-tasting occasions to mountain biking races and street soirees.
With surrounding regions like Cape Town, coastlines and other wine regions a short drive away, you should spend some time in this centrally-located town and get to grips with the culture, heritage and unique atmosphere of Stellenbosch.
There is something for everyone in the City of Oaks, from moms to tots, and as it’s a town for all
seasons there is a diverse range of great activities to take part in throughout the year.
Expectations and Trends for 2015
“Together with Stellenbosch Wine Routes we will continue to position Stellenbosch as one of the top wine tourism regions in the world in 2015”, says CEO of Stellenbosch 360, Annemarie Ferns.
“In addition, Stellenbosch 360 will continue to market the town as an all-round destination for study, business and leisure through numerous marketing initiatives and Route 360 cultural tourism activities.Working with tourism trend forecasters and attending key travel and trade events will allow us to share the latest global trends with the industry, so that we are able to understand today’s traveller better and attract more visitors to Stellenbosch. At a tourism industry level, tourism businesses play a key role in marketing the destination and these trends are a great resource,” Ferns concludes.
Events for 2015
Stellenbosch boasts an exciting events programme, which kicks off in January with the Stellenbosch Wine Festival organized by Stellenbosch Wine Routes. Another highlight on the town’s event calendar is the popular Stellenbosch University Woordfees that takes place in March. It is a colourful celebration of the arts, culture and people of Stellenbosch.

Stellenbosch National Heritage Festival

An all-inclusive festival that comprises activities from live music to marathons, and historical and
cultural tours. The Kayamandi Arts and Culture Festival forms part of this project.
Asparagus Festival at Dornier Bodega

An annual festival at which the Head Chef prepares asparagus themed dishes, paired with Dornier
Die Burger Cycle Tour

A 95km cycle tour around Stellenbosch, and a seeding event for the Cape Town Cycle Tour.
