Dave Hughes Benefit Golf Day
Dave Hughes is a man who has done much for the South African wine and spirit fraternity, willingly and frequently without remuneration. It was decided to award him a Benefit Year – much like that a cricketer in the twilight of his career would receive… and at 75 there’s no doubt that Dave is well into his twilight years!
The sole aim of the Benefit is to raise funds to assist this modest and humble servant of South African wine. All funds raised will go to a legally administered Trust for later disbursement.
The Dave Hughes Benefit Year tees off with a Golf Day at the Stellenbosch Golf Club on Thursday 15 May 2014. The field is limited to 25 four-balls with the afternoon format being a four-ball alliance with two scores to count. Golfers will receive a welcome drink as well as a snack half way in addition to a dinner accompanying the prize-giving. In addition there are two ‘watering holes’ or ‘nat gate’ en route.
The top four balls are in contention for prizes, along with whoever sinks the longest putt or hits his drive nearest the pin on a designated hole. The entry fee is R5 000 per four-ball which incorporates green fees and all hospitality. Buggies or caddies are for the golfer’s own expense.
The cut off date for entries is Tuesday 6 May. Tee off times will be advised once proof of payment and official handicaps/club membership are received.
Enquiries or entries for the golf day are to be directed to Jane Ledger (email@example.com) or by calling her on 082 335 2691.
